Community forum on trends, possibilities & future of housing
Housing Summit to feature senior economist from National Association of Home Builders, June 2

ST. CHARLES COUNTY, MO --- A community forum on trends, possibilities and changes in the future of local housing will be the focus of the EDC Housing Summit scheduled for 7:30 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 2 at Old Hickory Golf Club in St. Peters.  The event is being organized by the Economic Development Center of St. Charles County, Partners for Progress of Greater St. Charles and HOME St. Charles.

The keynote speaker will be Dr. Elliot Eisenberg, a senior economist with the National Association of Home Builders in Washington, DC.  Dr. Eisenberg is a frequent public speaker, author of more than 45 homebuilding industry articles, and has been featured in Business Week, Fortune, national and local newspapers and other publications.

"The dynamics of new home construction are still going through unprecedented changes in our region and around the country which makes this an opportune time to revisit the American dream and look to new trends and new possibilities for the future in the area of residential development," said Greg Prestemon, EDC president and chief executive officer.

As our small business incubator in St.Peters celebrated its 15 year anniversary in 2008 --- and I passed the same milestone at the helm of the Economic Development Center --- our organization remained focused and committed to creating jobs,  promoting local opportunities, financing business success, serving as a catalyst for entrepreneurial achievement, and playing a crucial role in community progress.

This past year had its share of major successes and challenges as global and national economic trends began to have an impact in St.Charles County and throughout metropolitan St.Louis.
